Hi, I’m Dr. Robin Harwick,
I am an author, educator, researcher, and consultant dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through research, teaching, and service.
I have been a member of academic, governmental, and private research teams since 1995. I also worked extensively in direct service of children and families as a parent educator, home visitor, and therapeutic foster parent
I earned my doctorate in Special Education from the University of Oregon. My scholarship focuses on the transition to adulthood for youth who experience marginalization – with an emphasis on those with disabilities, substance use disorders, mental health needs, and/or who experienced foster care or adoption.
I’ve presented in the U.S., Sweden, and Iceland on issues related to foster care and am published in peer-reviewed journals including School Psychology Forum, Children and Youth Services Review, and International Social Work.
This year, I returned to the classroom to "walk my talk." I teach part-time at an innovative bilingual private secondary school in San Luis Potosí, México, which utilizes Harkness discussions as the foundation for student learning. Being in the classroom allows me to put into action the instructional techniques and interventions which we know facilitate student learning and development.
I am excited to both share and increase my knowledge.
Have an idea of how we can work together? I'm listening, send me a message.
